Visions that draw you into the depths

About

Olesia Miftahova
Born in Ukraine, Olesia Miftahova currently lives and works in Crosskeys, Newport (Wales, UK). She is a full-time artist and poet whose visual practice evolved from her experience with poetry, transforming language into imagery while preserving its emotional and philosophical depth.

“Art is a form of internal therapy, but for me it’s not limited to that. There are themes that concern me and that I strive to raise in my work to make them visible.”
She works with various materials, including watercolor, acrylic, and charcoal, but pastel is her favourite medium. It allows her to embody meanings that reach beyond words and invite viewers to connect with their own hidden memories, joy, and a sense of something both familiar and lost.
Her artistic path has been enriched by studying under renowned artists in Ukraine and the United Kingdom, which has strengthened her skills and broadened her techniques. Today, her work is rapidly gaining recognition, resonating strongly with audiences and fellow artists.
Recent exhibitions: Manchester (England, UK), Kyiv (Ukraine), Cardiff (Wales, UK), Kaş (Turkey), Caerphilly (Wales, UK), Bristol (England, UK), Sheffield (England, UK), Neath (Wales, UK), Odesa (Ukraine), London (England, UK).
Memory is at the heart of her work — understood as roots, ancestral knowledge, and something that transcends the linear span of a human life. Through her paintings, Olesia explores belonging, kinship, and essence, reflecting on how these multilayered memories shape human identity.
